Krista’s figurative work incorporates the Mische technique, which is a Dutch Master style of painting from the 1500's that uses a combination of oil paints and resins to render a luminous, resonant realism. The visual effects created by working in the mixed technique essentially rely upon the phenomenon of light refracting through many subsequent layers of paint.

Krista’s university and graduate studies were in science and she holds degrees in Biology and a clinical doctorate in physiotherapy that encourage the exploration of her art inspiration from nature and the human form.
